Hip hip hooray!

Here are some photos from my Sunday - a happy day spent enjoying good food, great wines with friends and family overlooking beautiful Manly Cove, swathed in a stormy, mottled sky.  Not to mention the pretty coloured and divinely flavoured macarons, from the very talented
adrianozumbo PATISSIER
which can be found in a tiny, stunning reconditioned space tucked across from the Harbour in Manly (Shop 1a/40 The East Esplanade, Manly. Entry via Wentworth Ave).

Nice and bright
Raspberry cloud

Sweet musk macaron - pretty in pink!

Tucked away...
So pretty!
Too many choices :)

We sampled the following flavours:

Pancake and maple syrup
Sweet musk
Liquorice and raspberry
Basil and passionfruit
Smoked almond
Toasted marshmallow

So, next time you're in the neighbourhood and feeling a little bit naughty, pop in and treat yourself :)

Rain, rain, go away!

After such a beautiful, blue-sky, sunshiny day in Sydney yesterday, where has the sunny warmth gone? Here's my idea of the perfect Sunday, spent reading the Sunday papers or a fab book, down at Little Manly...

I'm off to yum cha at Manly Phoenix

with my beautiful family to celebrate a special someone's Birthday...
What are you up to today?

The scent of Summer...

To me, frangipanis are the epitome of Summer.  At the moment, they are blossoming everywhere you look around Manly.  Enjoy!

Random Acts of Kindness :)

For those of you who were lucky enough to grow up in Australia, the most amazing of countries, cast your mind back.  Way back, to the days of hot, humid summer days, culminating in the afternoon thunderstorm, during which the Heavens opened and the rain pelted down for an hour at the most, then stopped, making way for blues skies and sunshine again.  When sunburnt children (clad in terry towelling shorts and jumpsuits) stuck to vinyl seats in the back of the station wagon, heading home from the beach.

One of my favourite memories of summer days long ago was the 'Bubble O Bill'.  Well today, I got to relive these fabulous memories of old as I was waiting for my morning coffee after arriving at work, when a random stranger walked up to me in the cafe and gave me a 'Bubble O Bill'.

Weird, as the work girls and I were fondly remembering dear old Bill yesterday as we dined on our sushi at Sushi Arigato on Stanley Street

(Try the Dynamite rolls - they are AMAZING - a real little party in your mouth and the seaweed salad is the best I've had anywhere...)

But back to my random stranger in the cafe and my 'Bubble O Bill'.  The wrapping has changed (see my pic below), the icecream is slighlty more fluoro and toxic-looking than in days gone by, his nose has shrunken and so has he!  Is that just because everything seemed so much bigger when you were so much littler?  Or are we merely victims of downsizing and prices increasing everywhere we look?  The one thing that remains is that as I was devouring Bill, I closed my eyes and remembered happy, sunny summer days as kids, kicking back on one of Sydney's beautiful beaches :)

So, to the random stranger in the cafe, thank you :)

Welcome!

Hey there!

Welcome to my blog :)  I am new to this whole blogging thing, so I'd love you to join me on my adventures!  I hope to be able to share my favourite places, purchases, things to see and do both here in Manly and around Sydney (and maybe even a little further afield).  Please do comment, but please be gentle, as this is my first time!

Today has been a great day.  I celebrated my niece's 7th birthday with my family at Yok Thai, my most favourite restaurant in Manly.  It does the most beautiful, modern Thai and I find myself eating there about 2 nights a week.  If there's one dish that would feature at the top of my bucket list, it's the BBQ lamb cutlets.  Big call I know, but do trust me on this!  So far, I have converted approximately 43 & 3/4 friends to this decade's must-have dish.  Do yourself a favour and check them out some time.  Great food (I've never had so much as an average dish there) and happy, smiling service.  Check it out at http://www.urbanspoon.com/r/70/752429/restaurant/New-South-Wales/Yok-Thai-Manly

Thanks for joining me, welcome to 'Love, Miss Manly x' and 'til next time.

Love,
Miss Manly x
